After the recent WP update to 4.5.1 I have encountered my WP-admin panel to take a long time to load, for example when I go to Plugins, it could take minutes or give a 404 error.

But worst: when creating a new post, it could take minutes to load the editor screen, or give a 404 error.
Same for saving an existing post: when I finally get to editing it, when I try to save the post it takes minutes to save or gives the 404 error.

I have manually updated WP with a fresh download and followed the steps as given by WP official website, but to no avail.

Strangely, loading pages on the front-end (as in ‘what users see’) seems to be fine.

Any ideas what can cause this and how to solve it?

    Additional info:
It happens on 2 different browsers (Firefox and Chrome) on 2 different machines.

    The weird things are:
Sometimes the edit page loads quickly, but most ofthe time it does not
Sometimes saving is quick, but most of the time it takes 30+ seconds or ends in 404 error
If 404 happens on saving, the changes I made are saved, so it seems to only fail on loading the edit screen, it does not fail to save
Loading pages on the front-end as user its fast and good

I ‘solved’ this problem by disabling all plugins and enabling them again 24 hours later one by one.
According to my hosting provider the CPU load is down to normal levels and the memory bloating is gone too.

The plugins I use are 18 in total, with any of them being the most common plugins out there.
