    Hello WP Job Manager Experts

I hope this isn’t a really dumb question. I’m hoping to use WP Job Manager to create a service directory. For this I need to make some simple changes to field labels – e.g. change “Find Job” to “Find a Service”.

I found information on the three recommended ways to do this (Say What?, WP Job Manager Field Editor, and WP hooks). I decided Say what? looked perfect in light of my rudimentary WP skill level.

However when I attempt a text change, WP seems to process my update request but nothing changes on my site. For example this request:

    `Original string: Job
    Text domain: wp-job-manager
Text context: (I left this blank)
    Replacement string: Service`

made no change to the “Find Job” heading on the landing page. I couldn’t see any other field change either.

I tried troubleshooting by experimenting with different original strings (Job, job, Jobs, jobs, Find Job, etc), checked I didn’t have a page caching problem, tried deleting then reinstalling the Say what? plug-in, and even tried making changes from both a Mac and an Android device. I also called in a (non-WP) web developer to have a look, but he was equally baffled as to why I’m not succeeding.

My next thought was to try manually changing the translatable strings, but that looked sloooooow as there are a lot of files to comb through!

My embryonic site is https://culturewise.com.au and it’s hosted by SiteGround (irrelevant here I think but I’m following the help request guidelines). My WP Job Manager plug-in is up to date.

I’d be happy to buy WP Job Manager Field Editor if I knew that was going to work, but my confidence levels are currently low!

Does anyone have advice for me?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Jocelyn

Hang on – I seem to have solved my problem.

I was using the Workscout theme and it appears that the landing page labels are embedded in that theme. I had assumed that it was merely prettying up field labels from WP Job Manager.

I went in and did string replacement in the Workscout code and my landing page has changed (hurray!)

My apologies to anyone who has spent time pondering my problem.
