sby_videos error

    Hi,

    Just installed the sitemap and seems to work fine, except I get error in search console for /sitemap-files/xml/posts/sby_videos/1/. It says “XML-tag missing”.

    Also, is it possible to change the URL of the sitemap in the settings to a custom one?

    Edit: googled and found this answer, is it true?

    The “missing XML tag” error appears when the sitemap contains zero items.

    It is possible there is a bug and it is producing a page with zero results. I would need to know a bit more to investigate. can I know your website address please? If you are not happy sharing please message me via https://xmlsitemapgenerator.org/contact.aspx

    You can change the sitemap root/index file names in the settings for the plugin, but the sub pages cannot be changed.

    Hi, I simply unchecked the video option in the settings and resubmitted the sitemap so now I don’t have to deal with the error. Problem solved for me ??

    So I can change /xmlsitemap.xml to /mysitemap.xml if I want to?

    We don’t have a video option. I think you are looking at settings for another plugin.

    Go to the plugins screen and we put a settings link on there.

    Click that to ensure you are using the correct settings.

    I mean the setting under custom post type “sby_videos”. What is that? I choose exclude and now I get no error in console.

    Also, can I change /xmlsitemap.xml to /mysitemap.xml if I want to?

    May I also ask, is this sitemap just as effective as any other sitemap in getting the website indexed? In that sense it doesn’t differ from any other sitemap?

    Ah, the “sby_videos” option is probably added by my Youtube video plugin as a custom post type.

We’ve tried to cover things more comprehensively in a way that gives you more granular control than other plugins, this is why a lot of people choose us, but there are simpler solutions if you just want a simple one for basic SEO.
