• I have a new upcoming WP site that should become a very high traffic site. But I don’t want to start on a dedicated server, just in case. And I once used a VPS and I found it very confusing to use compared to a regular shared hosting package. I’d like to find something that I can operate like a shared server, yet scales up to be able to serve high traffic of like 50,000 visitors a day or more.

I think MediaTemple Grid service is something like this, right? Is there anything else recommended?

I was told this. Do I have to worry about WordPress if I have a very big traffic site?

I have seen many, many WordPress sites implode under load that wasn’t what I’d call particularly heavy, particularly compared to some of the other sites’ traffic patterns we see and routinely handle. Those people’s sites tend to be on 8-core boxes with 16-32gb of RAM. Their site pushes everybody else off the server and still either can’t keep up or runs the entire box right into the ground.

A lot of that can be blamed on bad plugin selection, but I’d say upwards of 80% of the people we have to contact about chronic performance problems are running WordPress.

    That’s huge for one app.

    Slobizman,

Ever get a solution for this?
