This plugin is a scam, it will insert on every page of your site a link to their website!

Seriously, why did you give this plugin a 5 star review if you think it’s a scam?

5-stars??? No way, I gave 1 star, it should be a mistake!

I just installed this plugin and see what you mean. I think that qualifies it as software are a service. It uses an image that’s loaded from the local copy of that plugin directory but generates a URL like so.

The plugin does not really do much besides that (though the settings page is alright).

The Twitter link on that page generates this URL.

Which will share your post with the correct URL but have that www.socializer.info as the ?original_referer and use this as the tweet text.

I don’t think this is a scam (software as a service gives me headaches sometimes) but for the life of me I have no idea why anyone would use his plugin. There are so many other plugins that don’t send your users to a third party site like that.

It doesn’t buy the plugin user anything to do that except that this plugin is light weight database wise but all sharing plugins should be that way.

… And they used a Fauxgo on their page at socializer.info. Ugh.

Dear fellow WordPress users, I’m sorry that some of you don’t like my plugin. You can just don’t use it, but accusations such as being a ‘scam’, are not fair, since I offer even a demo page, where one can see everything in all details. Besides, as Jan observed, nothing is hidden and only the site that is shared is promoted.

I originally built this for myself, because I wanted full control of my sharing panel without making my pages heavy with scripts etc. Then (after quite some time) I thought why not publishing it also here at WordPress in case others too might find it useful? That is all.

I’d like to thank those who tried it and those who use it; the rest can always find another sharing plugin that meets their needs.
