On May 9th Wordfence scans began to fail to complete: “Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean”. I disabled the malware scan and the scan completed – which is clearly a self-defeating solution. Any suggestions?

I’m running wp 4.5.2 and Wordfence 6.1.7. (I update Wordfence within 24 hours, max 48, of a new release. I can’t remember whether or not it was 6.1.6 or 6.1.7 on the 9th of May.) W3 Total cache is active

I look after a number of sites on the same server and no other site has the problem.

By the way, I can’t find the “disable config cache” option that you mention in previous posts. Have you removed this possibility?

  • Can you do the following so we can get the information we need to help you?

    • Go to your options page
    • Set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 20 on the options page
    • Save the options page
    • Go to the diagnostics page
    • Check the box to “Disable config caching”
    • Check the box to “Enable debugging mode”
    • Save the diagnostics page.
    • Start a new scan
    • Copy the last 20 lines or so of the activity log and paste them here

Updated documentation can always be found at https://docs.wordfence.com Forum posts may contain outdated information as features change from time to time.

    Thanks,

    tim

Good news: I found the disable config cache (I had previously been looking in “options”).

Anyway, it appears that there is an error: “gzinflate(): data error (2)”. Is this an ancillary issue or one directly related to my current situation?

Updating to Wordfence 6.1.8 fixed the problem. I can now include the malware scans. Thanks for addressing the underlying issues.
