Scans won’t complete, and just hang indefinitely once the following processes are reached, and begin their scan:

    * Comparing core WordPress files against originals in repository
    * Comparing plugins against www.ads-software.com originals
    * Scanning for known malware files

This then shows up at the same time:
Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean

Anyone know what I can do to resolve this…?

    Many thanks

  • Hi Steve,

Is this the first scan you’re running? Here’s a page from our FAQ that deals with common issues with scans not completing. If that doesn’t help, let us know and we can try some other ideas.

    Thanks,

I have the exact same error and nothing is fixing it. Here is the error message:

Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean

    Thanks for your assistance!

Hi Bryan. Can you make sure and make a new post here when you have an issue?
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordfence
The forum mods don’t like it when you post additional issues in another user’s post.

In the meantime, check the option to enable debugging mode and grab the last several lines you see. Add them to your forum post that you create so we can see where it is hanging.

I just installed Wordfence on 2 of my sites and ran the scan for the first time on both. On both, I get the error “Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean”

OC2PS: On the Wordfence Options page, try turning on “Disable config caching”, save the settings and try a new scan. Most hosts benefit from config caching, but some have trouble with it.

If this doesn’t help, can you make a new post using the form at the bottom of
https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/wordfence ? The www.ads-software.com forum rules ask us to keep each person’s issue separate, even if they’re similar, and it helps us keep track of open issues, too. Thanks!

    Thanks WFMattR.
Turning on “Disable config caching” solved my issue ??

I tried this on one site, and Wordfence worked fine.

Tried in another site and got this boolean error. I put disable config catching option and didn’t work.

Still have the same error. Any other idea?

    Thanks

@myuption: You can try the steps in this article, which help sometimes: My scans don’t finish

We’ve identified an issue with temporary scan data that affects sites with certain database settings, and are working on a permanent fix. Sometimes removing old inactive plugins and themes can help as well.

If you still have trouble, please make a new post using the form at the bottom of the Wordfence forum here. The www.ads-software.com forum rules ask us to have separate posts for each person’s issue, which also helps make sure we don’t miss new posts on old topics. Thanks!
