Scan directory – odd behaviour

    If I put some images into the gallery directory and then use the “Scan folder for for new files” option it finds the files fine. It resizes them BUT it loses all the meta associated with them.

    So if I upload a file DSCN0427.jpg ( 6122646 bytes) which has a full set of EXIF Meta data (confirmed using the identify function in imagemagick) and has a resolution of 4608×3456 pixels

    And then Scan the folder I end up with a new file with the same name (with the original renamed to DSCN0427.jpg_backup) which is an 800*600 pixel image with NO meta in it at all.

    The only way to get the meta back is to do a recover from backup and then force a re-size…

    @steveatty – Unfortunately using the auto-resize function may cause the new re-sized image to not have the same meta data attached to it. In most cases, we recommend appropriately sized images are used when uploading. We are still looking at issues where the meta data appears to be stripped out but for now the best work-around is to upload smaller sized images.

    So how can I turn off the Auto resize function so I upload the fullsized photos, force a rescan on the directory and then manually do a bulk resize (which seems to work fine in that Meta data isn’t lost).

    @steveatty – The “auto re-size” option can be found under Gallery > Other Options > Image Options.
