Hi! The scan failed, the diagnostics say: wp_remote_post() test back to this server failed! Response was: 401 Unauthorized. Any solution?

Hello @enzg and thanks for reaching out!

Our servers are from 69.46.36.0 to 69.46.36.32. Can you please whitelist this range with your hosting and let me know if it helps? Note that Wordfence will need access to the wp-admin > admin-ajax.php. If it’s blocked, Wordfence will not be able to scan, along with the possibility of breaking other plugins and WordPress functionality.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/scan/troubleshooting/#if-your-scans-arent-starting is an amazing resource for resolving these kinds of issues.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!

I’m using Cloudflare too. Need I add this range on Cloudflare too? What is the way to add the range in Cloudflare? Do you know?

    Hello again @enzg

You will have to check with your hosting provider and they can assist you with checking on that IP range.

If you are using Cloudflare you might also want to change a setting to acquire IP’s. Navigate to All Options > General Wordfence Options > How does Wordfence get IPs > Change this to Use the Cloudflare “CF-Connecting-IP” HTTP header to get a visitor IP.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!

Hi! The hosting already added the range of ip’s that you sent me. Do I have to add them on Cloudflare as well? If so, how do I add all ip’s in one line instead of adding one by one?

    Hello again @enzg

It wouldn’t hurt to do both but mainly make sure that it’s whitelisted on the hosting end. You should be able to add a range of IPs in Cloudflare but if you need assistance with that I would recommend contacting their support. The 401 error is unrelated to a Wordfence block. I would also check the htaccess file for anything restricting wp-admin access. It seems like something outside of Wordfence is blocking access and your hosting provider would be a good place to start.

If after whitelisting these IPs, you’re still having issues, could you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

Let me know if this helps!

    Thanks!
