My website is wiredlifesolutions.com. I received a scan errorthat the following file was showing 10 times –
“Unknown file in WordPress core: wp-admin/wired_life_solutions_home_for_free_ssl/auto_install_free_ssl_wired_life/acme_v2/live/wiredlifesolutions.com/public.pem
    Type: File”

I have searched my file manager in Cpanel and removed the file but it is still showing as an error in wordfence. What do I do now?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi @adetutuijose, thanks for getting in touch.

In most cases, running another scan should rectify anything found in a previous scan that have now been dealt with. The notices from the previous scan won’t disappear, even if you rectify an issue, unless you dismiss them yourself or run a fresh scan to re-check the directories.

Ultimately, it’s important that the folder and files within were knowingly placed there yourself or you allowed an installation to be put there. If so, you can safely ignore these notices but files within your version of WordPress and plugins are checked by Wordfence against the www.ads-software.com repository for unapproved changes to the intended files – so that’s why this is being flagged.

In Wordfence > All Options > Advanced Scan Options, you can choose Exclude files from scan that match these wildcard patterns to suppress messages against files you wish to keep in your WordPress installation folder.

Let me know how that goes for you.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you that issue has been resolved. I now have another error message

“3 paths were skipped for the malware scan due to scan settings
    Type: Skipped Paths”

What do I do with this one

    Hi @adetutuijose,

You can safely dismiss any messages regarding skipped paths if they’re part of your own changes, however the following page has more information about the message and what your options are: https://www.wordfence.com/help/scan/scan-results/#skipped-paths

    Thanks again,

    Peter.
