Scan starts and freezes after 5-7 seconds

If your PHP logs appear empty, please check your developer console and your network inspector to ensure there are no issues at that level first.

This could be due to how your WordPress installation is handling API requests. Make sure your WordPress REST API is enabled and running. Also, verify that its endpoint is set to /wp-json/ as this is essential for the plugin to work correctly.

I don’t see any errors in the console, but I do get the following error in Tools->Site Health:

The REST API is one way that WordPress and other applications communicate with the server. For example, the block editor screen relies on the REST API to display and save your posts and pages.

I wonder if the freezing might be due to wp_postmeta having so many records (almost 7 million, 435MB data size, 539MB index size), wp_posts has 354k records, 134MB data size, 58.20 MB index size). The site is pretty bloated.

I should have phrased this better. Is it possible that if the databases for the images are so large that the scan will not work? Would increasing the servers resource even fix this, being so large?

The number of images shouldn’t be a problem as the scan isn’t a single process; it’s done through multiple batches. You can change the settings in the plugin for each of these batches to scan fewer media at once.

Checking your console might not be sufficient; check the network traffic to see what you receive from each request and determine which one is causing an issue.
