• Scan won’t start. Get the following message: “Scan terminated with error: We received an error response when trying to contact the Wordfence scanning servers. The HTTP status code was [0] and the curl error number was [77] and the error from CURL was: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)”

    I had HostGator look into it, and here is their reply:

    “I have checked in the back end and used 2 other tools to check the SSL and the CA is correct on it. You may wish to contact Wordfence directly about the scan, as it could be possible for the results to be cached.”

    I still can’t scan. Please advise. Is there something else I can ask my Hosting provider to do?

    Sorry you are running into issues scanning.

    I’m running a test scan now and haven’t had any issue. I know there was a problem that people have been experiencing with some hostgator hosted sites and our crack dev team was looking into it, but I don’t remember off the top of my head the details. Could you try deactivating the plugin and reactivating, making sure that the box to delete wordfence settings on deactivation is not checked on the options page (would remove all your settings). Then try a scan again and see if it corrected itself.
