Scan won’t start

I can’t get a scan to run with with Wordfence version 6.2.3. I select the “Start a Wordfence Scan” button, the text changes to “Requesting a New Scan” and the icon animates, then nothing.
I tried selecting “Click to kill the current scan.” and then initiating a new scan but that didn’t help.
Please advise.
