Scanning Stops
-
Hi,
Installed the latest version 6.1.3
My scans have just this morning started to throw up the error message:
Scan can't continue - stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
After a bit of Google research, have tried disabling config cache but no joy, same error message
No .htaccess blocking wp-admin.
Disabled Sucuri.
Tried scanning both with and without config cache enabled, got same error message.
Re-enabled Sucuri to ensure website protection.
What’s the problem with Wordfence today?

I have the same problem
Same problem here. the last thing that succeeds is
Analyzed 1200 files containing 14.14 MB of data so far
Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: booleanhope that helps
I just tried a re-install of WordPress, still the same completely repeatable problem:
[Apr 15 21:10:28] Analyzed 3100 files containing 36.39 MB of data so far
[Apr 15 21:10:33] Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: booleanOK I enabled debugging and the log now reports: (.. in place of server path)
[Apr 15 21:20:15] Setting up scanRunning and starting scan
[Apr 15 21:20:15] Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
[Apr 15 21:20:15] Use of undefined constant user_level – assumed ‘user_level’ (8) File: ../wp-content/plugins/ultimate-google-analytics/ultimate_ga.php Line: 1047
[Apr 15 21:20:15] Scan process ended after forking.
[Apr 15 21:20:15] Use of undefined constant user_level – assumed ‘user_level’ (8) File: ../wp-content/plugins/ultimate-google-analytics/ultimate_ga.php Line: 1047So I disabled Ultimate Google Analytics and now get:
[Apr 15 21:30:53] Setting up scanRunning and starting scan
[Apr 15 21:30:53] Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean
[Apr 15 21:30:53] Scan process ended after forking.I took a slightly different approach.
Using the Rollback plugin, I downgraded to a random version – 6.0.25 in this case – and the scan went straight through.
So from a layman’s point of view, it looks like they’re making a bit of a balls-up under the hood with these new features.
I have the same problem and Diasbling config caching on the Diagnostics page doesn’t help. I can get the scan to complete by skipping malware scan (untick Scan for signatures of known malicious files in Options page) but re-enabling this stops the scan again. Obviously I wouldn’t want to disable this on a permanent basis.
All other blogs on the server allow the scan to continue and prior to updating from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 the scan worked.
Yep same issue here, was working fine until Wordfence update this morning.
Uninstalled Worfence and used Wordfence assistant to delete all data, reinstalled wordfence but didnt enable the new firewall and uploaded original .htacces file, this is how far I got:

I’m having the same issue. No problems before the upgrade, fork errors immediately afterwards.
Disabling config caching on the Diagnostics page also doesn’t help on my server.
The same for me. After upgrading 6.1.3, I get this error while scanning: Scan can’t continue – stored data not found after a fork. Got type: boolean. I tried it on three different wordpress sites.
Hello everyone,
this bug has been filed and we have a fix coming out with the next release which will be in a few days. Hopefully it will sort it out for most of you.The bug is related to Wordfence storing some cache while executing the scan and running out of resources. If you want to try in the meantime there are two things you can do
1. You can try to disable some options under “Options”/”Scans to include”. Disable all at first, see if it works. Then turn them on one at a time and try searches inbetween.
2. You can try disabling any other plugins you have installed that are not being used or are not critical for your site. When you remove plugins you don’t need, make sure the plugin folder is completely removed from the server.
Thanks, @wfasa !
In case it helps anyone else, I followed your advice to disable all the options under “Options”/”Scans to include” and then by the process of elimination figured out that Wordfence was getting stuck on this option:
“Scan for signatures of known malicious files”
Hi wfasa,
Will you be post when update is completed?
What’s the risk level if we choose to wait for your update?
FYI… Also have noticed a boat load more foreign crawlers trying to access login! Were not as many before the latest update.
Thanks!
Yes, kuleanadesign has right. That option kill the scan. We wait the upgrade.
