Scheduled Post Date Format – can it be changed back?

Is there any way to change the “scheduled post” date dialogue back to a format which makes sense to non-US users? This “month first” format which appeared last year is starting to kill me, especially in conjunction with the numerical month indicator which has appeared. What does e.g “03-Mar 05, 2012” mean? Well, obviously I can work it out, but I keep setting wrong dates, and it’s causing real problems.

I am soooo hoping that somebody’s going to point out a setting I’ve overlooked.
