Schedules a back up & then does NOTHING

    Hey, not sure what I am not doing right. I uploaded the zip file via GoDaddy FTP like all other plug ins, activated it. Authenticated my Dropbox with it and when I click Back Up Now it schedules it for few sec/mins out but then just does NOTHING..
    Is this b/c I haven’t upgraded to the paid version?
    I have checked my dropbox and there is the directory made but no files and I have not received any emails.

    Would love help on how to best back up my Godaddy hosted site.. Should I use Filezilla instead of this?

    Hi Alarmreviews,

    When you click “Backup Now”, it shows you a link that says something like – “Nothing happening? Follow this link for help” – have you followed that link?

    Yes, however something does happen as it schedules a planned backup. That link resource page is for if there is truly nothing happening. Thanks for quick reply…
    Example: A backup run has been scheduled (Sep 14 05:54:28). That was for yesterday (today is 15th) and it just never did run.. When I click on download most recently modified log files it says none were found.

    In fact, that’s exactly what that page is for. I’ve now amended the page (https://updraftplus.com/faqs/my-scheduled-backups-and-pressing-backup-now-does-nothing-however-pressing-debug-backup-does-produce-a-backup/) to clarify that. i.e. If you have the “has been scheduled” message, but nothing more, then that’s a non-functional scheduler in your WP setup.

    How many visitors is required? My site is not in maintenance mode (that I know of, checked everywhere in settings) but it is still being developed and I do not have any visitors. I am live and on it on 2 different lap tops, so is 2 visitors not enough to trigger it?

    Hi Alarmreviews,

    No visitors at all are needed to get it started, if the scheduler is not disabled by some other cause (because UD itself kicks off a visit in the background to get things moving). If you have nothing happening beyond the ‘run is scheduled’ message, then the scheduler in your WP install is non-functional.

    So no go than for me? Can I pay a staff member to look/fix it? Anything i need to do thru GoDaddy FTP? Is my best bet to backup my FTP files via Filezilla? Sorry, new to all of this but do appreciate the answers.

    Hi Alarmreviews,

    I don’t have a GoDaddy support, so don’t really know how helpful their support are. But, if you ask them why your WP scheduler (WP cron) is not working, they may be able to help. You should first go through the article yourself – there are some causes in there that could be caused by you (e.g. use of a WP maintenance mode plugin) rather than by the hosting company.
