Trying to find a way to schedule multiple daily backups, but have hit a dead end.

I came across a post that talks about using WP-CLI via SSH, but I’m unable to install WP-CLI to work with my hosting account.

    Hi @zmowp,

Thanks for reaching out. Generally you should only be allowed one daily backup per site instance. The only situations I’ve seen where it creates multiples in a single day is when auto-updates are involved but that’s automatically created from a cron.

You could theoretically add cron jobs manually, I have seen rare instances where TU failed to remove old crons after the settings got changed. Cpanel has a cron GUI tool, you could copy/paste the job that’s in there.

As far as accessing the WP-CLI you’ll need SSH access and all hosting account types and subscriptions do not allow this functionality. You may need to consult with your web hosting provider to ensure that you have this feature unlocked on your account.

I hope this helps @zmowp, please let us know if there’s anything else that we can answer for you!

I’m aware of the WP-CLI requirements, hence how I’ve come to the determination that I won’t be able to use that method.

So, in simple words, without WP-CLI, there’s no other way to schedule multiple backups?

I’m wanting to do multiple backups per day, and it’s my fault that I didn’t do my full due diligence before investing into BTU with regards to this ability.

    Hi @zmowp,

I was explaining above that you can check your hosting accounts Cpanel for the cron GUI tool, which you could use to copy/paste the job that’s in there to create more instances of the cron which would essentially create new backup instances. That’s the only sure way I know to add crons without going directly through the WP-CLI.

This is perhaps a feature that could be added directly to the Total Upkeep plugin settings. Is there a specific reason why you would need to run multiple site backups per day?
