The original version of Rich Reviews provided an option to change the ItemType. We are a local business that provides services. How can we set-up the schema for LocalBusiness instead of Product?

Hi @cgiroud how did the original do this? I don’t believe we removed anything like that, so maybe the codebase we received already had it removed? Or maybe we inadvertently disabled it?

Let me know how it worked before, and we can see if we can get it added back. Thanks.

Hello @cgiroud, also note that in our next update we will be removing the “product” schema and replacing it with “review” instead. The feature you are speaking of is still there within the Options under the Markup tab. I believe this is where you can set some default schema settings. Let us know if this is not what you are referring to and we will continue to investigate. Thank you!

We just released version 1.8.3. Can you update and let us know if this resolved the issue for you?

Hi Tevya, I asked my web developer to better explain the problem. See below. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks! Cindy

Schema now is “review”, not “product” which review is invalid mark up.
    https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/#url=https%3A%2F%2Fstaging.giroudtree.com%2F

What would be valid would be <div itemscope itemtype=https://schema.org/Organization>
Here is a list of “things” that can have an aggregate rating. https://schema.org/Thing#subtypes

I was basically saying they need to give an option to select that the rating is for any of the “things” in a settings dropdown that changes the itemtype=”{insert thing here}”

Also, the aggregate is not showing any rating. So they broke that aggregate output.

Hi Tevya, I haven’t heard back from you on what my developer’s said about the schema problem. However, I did want to let you know that I just tried to run the update to 1.83. It failed because it was unable to copy some files. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks. Cindy

    Hi Cindy,

Sorry for the slow reply. We’re a small team with limited bandwidth, supporting a free plugin. So I appreciate your patience.

We’ve had other report the schema issue and understand it better now. We’re working on a fix for it.

I’m not sure why the update would have failed. I’d suggest trying again and asking your host if it continues to fail. Usually failures like that are due to permissions issues on the host, or too tight of limits for PHP uploading, processes, etc.

Hi All, my Developer wanted you to know that we tried to run the update again on a staging site and it failed. Staging.giroudtree.com has the update and the aggregate at the bottom of the footer is completely broken. The plugin can’t and shouldn’t be updated on live. Unless staging is not able to see a new update that is where it is. Please let me know if you have any additional thoughts on the update failure or were able to repair the schema issue. Thanks! Cindy

Hi Cindy, all I can think of is manually updating it via FTP. The update mechanism is working great for lots of other people. Contact your host and maybe they can shed light on why the update isn’t working?

On your original issue for this thread: we just released version 1.8.4 that specifically addresses this issue. You can now go into Options and set the schema (aka “structured data” aka “rich meta”) to either Local Business or Organization. Local Business presents some additional fields that you’ll need to fill out.

Please update to 1.8.4 and let me know if the original issue is resolved (it should be). Thanks!
