I’m now trying Rank Math on one of my websites but have run into an issue with Video schema – or maybe not?

A couple of posts have videos inserted, but when I tried to apply the schema I was confronted with things like ‘Content Title’, ‘Embed url’, ‘Duration’ and ‘Views’ ??? which made me wonder whether it was worth it to add video schema at all.

So anyway I just enabled the video schema with none of the above items added, and decided to see what happened.

Going over to the Google rich results from the Rank Math item in the admin bar, the post was indeed saying that ‘Video’ was a working schema now, but it just mentioned that videoObject was valid, as was the post description, the uploadDate, and the thumbnailUrl.

Question then is, I’ve used many schema plugins in the past, both free and pro ones, but none of them wanted the items mentioned above adding, preferring instead to just use the post title, and I’m guessing from that, the embed code, content title, duration and ‘views’ would be added automatically.

(Still not worked out what the point of adding ‘views’ is)

So is the way of adding it with no items added, really going to give valid video schema every time?

    Hello @deeveearr

Thank you for contacting the support.

If the article contains only a video, then you can choose the Video Schema, otherwise, you can choose Article or the appropriate Schema type that represents the content on the page correctly.

The fields you are mentioning are recommended but not required for passing Google’s Schema Markup test. So, you should be good even without entering values in those fields.

Hope that helps. If you have any further question(s), please let us know. We are here to assist.
