Scope

    This looks interesting and potentially useful to WP users – thank you.

    I notice that this plugin, like various other things I’ve seen, identifies “personal data” with “*all* data relating to the user”. Is that based on any legal advice or reading of official documents? Or a personal view? Or something else?

    I ask because, on my reading, these two things are not necessarily the same. e.g. I see that your plugin deletes comments. My intuition to date was that comments are not personal data under the scope of the GDPR that a user can claim an unquestioned legal right to delete. What’s your view on this?

    Hi David,

    Thanks for your very interesting question.

    In our opinion comments are indeed no personal data, but sometimes it can be protected by copyright and be linked to the author. Therefor we do not let users delete their comment but this action is a request send to the sites admin. The admin has the ability to delete the comment or (in a future release) make the comment Anonymous through our wp-gdpr backend view. In both cases the user gets an email with the taken steps.
