    Hello

sometimes when I open my WooCommerce store, the screen briefly turns black for a split second. Please check this video for review. Do you know what can cause it and how to solve it? It also seems that it happens only on desktops.

If you suggest things like “check it with the twenty-three” theme: if I deactivate my current theme and go to the twenty-three theme, is there a risk that all the customizations (CSS, etc.) will be lost or my website will be damaged after turning back to my current theme?

    Best regards

    Hi @govisola,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I understand your concern of the screen briefly turning black for a split second.

Looking at the screen recording you’ve shared, it is unusual that this is happening to you.

Before we can proceed further in troubleshooting this issue, do you remember making any changes before the issue started, such as updating or installing plugin(s)?

    Hello @ckadenge

thank you for your response. I didn’t install any new plugins recently. I have this problem for months now, I believe. I don’t remember when it started.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello @rajeshml

thank you for your reply. Here you can find the system status report and the fatal error logs (I have many fatal error logs, I copied only the lastest 2 error logs and none of them have the date of yesterday.)

    Best regards

    Hey, @govisola!

    Thanks for the info!

There was nothing unusual on the SSR.

The error logs you shared show that there is something going on with your theme. It is experiencing syntax errors. I suggest reaching out to the theme support so they can take a look at this.

Regarding the issue, I see it in your video, but I was not able to see it when I checked your website on my end.

Does it happen every time for you?
Are there any specific steps you follow to trigger it?
Have you tried different browsers/devices/internet connections to check if the issue persists?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hello @carolm29

thank you. Ok I will contact the theme support.

No, as I wrote, it happens sometimes, and not on mobile. But now I am checking it and I also don’t see it. Strange. Ok. let’s see what the theme support says.

    Hello govisola

    Thank you for your reply.

Contacting the theme support is a good idea.
The active theme is responsible for site appearance.
So this problem is likely related to the theme.

Let me know about the response from theme support. ??

    Best regards.

    Hello @doublezed2

I contacted them and they said that indeed there is some syntax errors related to the theme. The errors are pointing towards issues with some PHP files in the theme.

My question is: since the errors are from the date 2024-07-03, is it possibile that the errors were in some way already solved and this black screen in my store is caused from something else?

    Best,

    Giuseppe

    Hi @govisola

It’s good to know that you contacted your theme support, and they acknowledged some syntax errors related to your theme’s PHP files.

Even though the errors are dated 2024-07-03, this does not necessarily indicate that the issues have been resolved. The black screen issue might still be related to these errors.

I recommend following up with your theme support to confirm whether these errors were fixed in a subsequent update. Updating your theme to the latest version might resolve the issue if they have.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi @shameemreza

thank you for your answer. The theme support told me that If the errors are dated from 2024-07-03, they may have been addressed in a more recent update or patch. They regularly release updates to our Astra theme to fix bugs and improve performance. And I have the latest version. So the problem of this topic is not caused by syntax errors. How can we understand why the screen of my store briefly turns black for a split second?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello @govisola,

To rule out if the issue is related to your theme, can you please try switching to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four?and check if the issue persists?

If it does, running a full conflict test would be a great option to check if something else is conflicting.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

    Hello @rajeshml

thank you for your response. ?if I deactivate my current theme and go to the twenty-four theme, is there a risk that all the customizations (CSS, etc.) will be lost or my website will be damaged after turning back to my current theme? Is that something safe to do or should I duplicate my website and do it in the offline version of my website? And if yes, do you have a tutorial?

    Hello govisola,

    Thank you for your reply.

To revert the changes made by switching the theme and disabling plugins, simply switch back to the original theme and enable the plugins again. Your website will return to its original state.

As a precaution, I recommend creating a backup of your website before conducting the conflict test.?
You can utilize the BackWPup plugin to create a backup of your site.

I hope this answers your questions.
Feel free to ask if you have more questions. ??

    Best regards.

    Hello @doublezed2

thank you for your response. Before I proceed (it may take days) I wanted to ask you, if the combination of the plugins I am using related to woocommerce could cause this problem? Perhaps some plugins are conflicting with others? Here is the list of plugins I am using for woocommerce:

    Google for WooCommerce

    WooCommerce

    WooCommerce PayPal Payments

    WooCommerce.com Update Manager

    WooPayments

    Does it seem all ok?

    Hey, @govisola!

Those are all official WooCommerce plugins and don’t usually cause conflicts within themselves ??

Having said that, if you can run the conflict test it can really help with the troubleshooting to understand what is going on.

I also wanted to address this:

?or should I duplicate my website and do it in the offline version of my website? And if yes, do you have a tutorial?

Between running the test on the live site or staging site, you can choose which option is better for you ??

If you choose to do it on a staging site, please make sure you can replicate the issue on it before running the conflict test.

You can ask your host if they offer this service, a lot of hosts do, or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!
