    Hello

sometimes when I open my WooCommerce store, the screen briefly turns black for a split second. Please check this video for review. Do you know what can cause it and how to solve it? It also seems that it happens only on desktops.

If you suggest things like “check it with the twenty-three” theme: if I deactivate my current theme and go to the twenty-three theme, is there a risk that all the customizations (CSS, etc.) will be lost or my website will be damaged after turning back to my current theme?

    Best regards

    Hello @carolm29 @doublezed2 @rajeshml and everyone ??

I used wp staging and I duplicated the website. Then I checked the store page and also on the duplicated website I had the same problem. Then I activated the theme Twenty Twenty-Four and with this theme, there was no problem! So now, what do I have to do?

In the process I didn’t deactivate any plugin. All the plugin were active always.

And now I noticed that I have the problem explained in this topic only on chrome and edge. In Mozilla, and Safari there is no black screen while loading the store.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards

    Giuseppe

    Hello @govisola,

Thank you for sharing your detailed findings!

It’s great that you were able to isolate the issue by testing with a Twenty Twenty-Four theme. Based on your results, it’s clear that issue is the related to the theme.

As per our?support policy, we don’t provide support for third party products, including themes. I recommend reaching out to your theme developer, for further assistance. Please do share your findings with them, and I am confident they’ll be able to help you resolve the issue.

    Hello @ckadenge

I checked my store page with the browser tools and found these errors. Astra pointed out that these are mainly related to woocommerce. Are these errors causing the problem of this topic? Or do I have to pen a new topic?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    HI again @govisola,

    Thanks for the update.

I checked the shared logs, and it seems like a JavaScript file was loaded before the site was fully loaded.

As this seems quote unusual, could you please disable any browser extensions from your end to check if this makes any difference?

In the meantime, if the issue persists after disabling your extensions, please try re-installing your WooCommerce version on your staging site to check if it makes any difference.

Let us know how this goes.

    Hello @ckadenge

Thank you. In incognito, the issue is still there.

So now I am inside the dashboard of my staging website and under the plugin, it is impossible to deactivate/uninstall the woocommerce plugin. Do you know why and how can I uninstall it? Also on the normal website, it is not possible to uninstall woocommerce.

    Best regards

Ok, sorry @ckadenge I had first deactivate and uninstall all the other plugins connected to woocommerce to be able to deactivate and uninstall woocommerce.

I did what you suggested, but even if I re-install woocommerce the problem persists. There is no problem without woocommerce plugin. The problem is when woocomerce is activated.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello govisola,

    Thank you for your reply.

The WooCommerce uses WordPress to load all the required files to work.
The JS errors you are encountering appear to be at the WordPress or Server level.

Could you deactivate all the plugins including WooCommerce and switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-four on your staging site and check for JS errors?

This will help us determine the origin of the problem.
Let me know about your findings. ??

    Best regards.

    Hello @doublezed2

    thank you.

I made it as you said.

After I deactivated everything and i re-activated back all plugins and astra I noticed this:

the sidebar in woocommerce store disappeared and there are no errors or black screens. But on all other pages of the website, where the sidebar is, there are now the problems and black screens I had on my store. So is this sidebar creating the problems? Should I back talk to Astra again? ??

Do not ask me to deactivate the sidebar in the staging website because if I click to Custom/Personalize Page Button the staging website redirects me to the normal website.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards

    Hello govisola,

    Thank you for your reply.

I appreciate the time and effort put into the troubleshooting process.
Did you try deactivating the WooCommerce plugin and check for a black screen while keeping it deactivated?

If not, then please try this and let me know how it goes.
I suspected their something wrong at the WordPress or Server level.
WooCommerce is just making the issue more visible but it is already there.

Your next test will prove or disprove this theory.

    Best regards.

Thank you for your response @doublezed2

Yes I just tried it. I deactivated woocommerce plugin and now the problem of the black screen is not in the other pages, there is no black screen. It seems it is woocommerce that creates this problem.

There is something more: I see this error message on all pages. But there is no black screen. But I think this is not causing the black screen. This is a widget in the sidebar of the store that I disabled on the main website and there I don’t see the error anymore (but I see always the black screen). It is strange that now this message error about this widget is on all pages because those pages had never that widget, those pages have another sidebar (the sidebar of the store was different than the sidebar of the normal pages).

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi @govisola

Thanks for sharing more details with us. I’ve been going through all the responses in this thread, and it seems we’re jumping around a bit. It would be really helpful if you could highlight the specific issue and where we should concentrate our efforts.

However, let’s clarify the last two errors you shared.

The resources preload error you’re experiencing stems from a conflict with a plugin or theme. I’ve run tests using the default theme on a different server and setup, and I didn’t encounter any such error.

The second error indicates that a directive in the header isn’t recognized, which is why it’s being ignored. This issue is typically due to a misconfiguration on the server side, which, in this case, is Amazon’s server. Unfortunately, as a third party, we don’t have control over their server configurations.

However, you can try clearing your browser cache and cookies or try loading the page in a different browser or incognito mode. Also, head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

    • WooCommerce transients – Clear
    • Expired transients – Clear
    • Clear template cache – Clear
    • Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
    • Clear customer sessions -Clear
    • Product lookup tables – Regenerate
    • Regenerate the product attributes lookup table – Regenerate

Furthermore, does the black screen error occur using a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Four, or does it occur with Astra only? Also, were you able to test on a different hosting server?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Thread Starter govisola

    (@govisola)

    Thank @shameemreza

Sure. Sometimes when I open my WooCommerce store, the screen briefly turns black for a split second. We tried many things. I contacted Astra and they told me that it is something related to woocommerce. I ran a test on my staging website. I deactivated woocommerce and there was no black screen even with Astra. I ran more tests after: I switched to twenty-twenty-four, I deactivated woocommerce, then I re-activated woocommerce and went back to Astra: now the black screen in my store disappeared but appeared in all other pages of the website and more, the sidebar of the store disappeared.

Hope it help to have a overview.

No, the black screen error doesn’t occur using a default theme like twenty Twenty-Four.

No, I have no intention of trying it in another hosting, I use IONOS which should be already a good one (even though I don’t trust them and they gave me problems last year when I wanted to use the CDN of CloudFlare – and it never worked out, it was a nightmare. But still, switching hosting is too hard for me).

    Bes regards

    Hi @govisola,

As you’ve already tested, the issue doesn’t occur with a default theme like Twenty Twenty-Four, which further suggests a theme-specific issue.

Since the issue persists even after reactivating WooCommerce and going back to Astra, it might be beneficial to check if there are any updates available for your Astra theme. If there are, please update and see if the issue resolves.

If the issue still persists, you might want to consider using a WooCommerce-compatible child theme of Astra. This could help maintain the look and feel of your website while resolving the black screen issue.

No, I have no intention of trying it in another hosting,

For testing purposes, you can try a temporary hosting provider like this one and observe if the issue persists.

    I hope this helps.
