Screen options button not working

    I successfully built a static homepage on one site using the Screen options button to tick discussions & disable comments. I am now in the process of dismantling the existing site & moving it to a new domain.

    On the new site the Screen options button only works with dashboard, and not pages, posts, plugins, or users. The most important solution is for Pages so I can tick discussions & disable comments. Is there any resolution or work around for this please.

    This is in no way related to theme as Screen Options are part of WordPress itself.

    Maybe you have installed some faulty plugin, so make sure to disable all plugin to see it that resolves your issue.
