• After up grading to WordPress 4.8, I can’t find script code in Text Widget. How can I insert new script or modify sript in Text Widget?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,
    Wahyu

    Hi,

As a general rule of thumb, we don’t recommend putting scripts there (it would be better to use a plugin dedicated to this).

If you must put code in there, make sure you have an administrator account (or else it will be stripped out for security reasons), and use the Text tab of the widget, put your code there, make sure there’s no double-line breaks as those will break your code (best is if it’s all in one line to avoid that problem altogether).

In customiser > widgets there’s now the visual AND text in the arbitrary text/HTML option.
I use this in over 30 of my client websites footers for Schema. It has stripped out all the schema code as after saving/refreshing it defaults to visual and has again stripped the schema. Plugins are kept to a minimum and I preferred the control I had to insert my own schema using the text widget.
Is there any way around this?
Extremely frustrating as lost vital schema for so many websites.

For those who do put arbitrary HTML code in the text editor, 4.8.1 was released last night and contains a Custom HTML widget made for this purpose specifically.
