I love Collapsomatic, and I have a small suggestion on one of the features. It would be great if the scroll-to-trigger tag scrolled slightly further up the page – say 150px above the actual trigger. This would help the user be able to see the trigger more clearly.

On the documentation page, the scroll-to-trigger example is actually a little disorientating. This is because when I click “close” I can see that it scrolled, but when it stops I don’t recognise any content. Because the trigger is no visible … it was actually hiding behind the navigation bar. And even without a navigation bar, it would still have the trigger right at the very top of the screen, whereas our eyes focus on the top-middle of the screen. So if you like the suggestion, it would be awesome to see this added into an update.

    Thanks for the great plugin.

Hello Jodamo5. Glad you are enjoying the plugin.
Without a link, I do not know if you are referring to the Admin Bar that does not show when you are not logged in, or some other menu bar.

Regardless, we have added an offset feature to Collapse-Pro-Matic to solve exactly this problem using an offset attribute: https://plugins.twinpictures.de/premium-plugins/collapse-pro-matic/documentation/#offset

This will allow you to set a default amount of offset to use for all find-me locations.

If you don’t mind, please include a link to the page that you are experiencing this issue, there might be a simple work-around.

    We await your feedback!

Hi Baden. Sorry, I intended to include the link. I was actually referring to your own page – https://plugins.twinpictures.de/plugins/collapse-o-matic/documentation/#ict-scroll-on-close

When I click the “close” button on that documentation page for the scroll-to-trigger example, it’s disorientating because when the scrolling stops the trigger is hidden behind the top navigation bar on your site, so you can’t actually see where you’ve scrolled to.

I checked the scroll-on-close function, but because my site is responsive, that won’t work when the page gets longer on smaller screens.

Will the offset function in your pro version work with scroll-to-trigger? But that I mean, if I set the offset to 150, will it scroll back up to the trigger and then 150px more so that the trigger is visible? Thanks!

You know, you are right! We are using the Stick-O-Matic plugin to nail the Navigation menu to the top. This is exactly what the offset attribute was built to fix.

The scroll-on-close function will work with responsive screens, as it is looking for the location of an element. There might be an issue when you load the page in one size and manually change the resolution to another size. We’ll look into that.

If you set the offset to 150 then it will scroll and place your element at the top + 150 more. If you set the offset to -150 then it will scroll down but stop 150 pixels before the top of the element. We will add a demo of that in the documentation today and post back when it’s ready.

Alright! We have adjusted the default on the plugin oven page so it should now scroll to the correct position.

We have also added the ability to assign ‘auto’ to scroll-on-close. You can check out the demo of this here: https://spacedonkey.de/1141/collapse-o-matic-scroll-on-close-demo/ Note: It also works with responsive themes.

We will be releasing an update later today, in the mean time, if you don’t mind, you can download and test the release candidate direct form the Plugin Oven: https://plugins.twinpictures.de/plugins/collapse-o-matic/

Hi Baden. I’ve just checked out the spacedonkey demo link you pasted, but the offset doesn’t seem to work. The trigger text is still hidden behind the top navigation bar when you close it. Both for the ‘R2D2 Wiki’ trigger and the ‘Close-n-Scroll Auto’ trigger.

I purchased the pro version, and entered a default offset value, but this doesn’t seem to work for the scroll-to-trigger

I tried adding offset=”150″ into the internal oollapse trigger, but it doesn’t handle that.

On your documentation site under the “Internal Collapse Trigger & Scroll On Close”, that’s what I’m trying to do, but have the trigger offset so it is still visible. On your documentation page it still has that same issue – the trigger ends up behind the top nav.

Also, in testing I just found that two other scrolls seem to have broken on your documentation page:
    1) The scrollonclose=”auto” example now jumps to the very top of the page when it is clicked close. (It doesn’t do a jquery scroll, it just appears immediately at the top).
    2) The findme=”auto” example under the “Findme attribute” heading also jumps to the top of the page when clicked.
So the “auto” seems to have broken.

jodamo5: Thank you for goign pro! We are releasing an update to both the Pro and Free version that adds the auto ability to scroll-on-close. Look for that in the next hour.

Now for your offset issue. you will want to use a NEGATIVE number to move the offset DOWN. This can be accomplished on a per-element level by using offset="-150" or globally by setting the Default Offset in the plugin’s option page to -150

Give that a try and let us know if joy and joyness returns to your offset woes.

No, you are correct, there is an issue with the offset attribute. we’ll get a fix out immediately.

jodamo5: Issue has been resolved and the plugin updated. Please update to Collapse-Pro-Matic version 1.0.6 and let us know if that works for you. Since this no longer deals with the free Collapse-O-Matic version we are marking this issue as resolved. For support on the Pro version, please contact us at the email address shown in your purchase receipt. Again, thank you kindly for your feedback and patience.
