What always bothers me a wee bit is a lot of folks here refer to validation as some kind of tiresome burden. They may well be right for some purposes. But a lot of folk who answer these css posts are in the pro / semi pro bracket at least in terms of quality even if they are not selling web services. For those guys and the point they are trying to make is that validation equals accessibility (kind of). Hence your blog will look at least fairly cool to the widest combo of browsers, screen readers etc. Heck; mark your site up any way you want. Nobody but nobody gives a d. But ask for good advice and you are likely to receive it. Hence a lot of folks here are validation and css fanatics. We get a lot of folks publishing here, who do not bother with validation but they then are juggling as they receive reports on the blog in various browsers. If they validated from the outset they would save themselves a lot of trouble. And they would have a solid platform to deal with any feedback they might receive. Plus if they were really cool they would add the css hacks necessary to accomodate non compliant but commonly used browsers. Finally we do not need to get into bashing browser vendors to say that in an open source forum like this proprietary extensions of any kind are going to be unpopular with a lot of viewers.
