SD and HD Source Switching

As best as I can tell, it is not currently possible to switch between a SD and HD source (and yes, I would encode two different resolutions – both as mp4 and webm, for a total of 4 files).
Are there plans to add this in the future? Is there maybe a hidden way to do this now?
