• Hi all!

I know there are some fine plugins for “search and replace” but so far I was not able to use it the way I want.

I would like to replace the german word “du” (you) with “Du”. Unfortunately it also replaces “du” within a word like “AnmelDung”. (big letter D)

Does somebody has a hint for me how to do this job?

    Thanks in advance.

    cheers

  • Hi rangitoto. Maybe in your search text put a space on either side to “du”, like ” du “?

    Thanks for your reply.
Sadly this is not working. I tried “search and replace” from Frank Bueltge.

What is different in “search and replace” from text-edit or word ?

    cheers

If you’re up for doing it manually you could try an update query using phpMyAdmin as discussed in this thread.

Thank you for this interesting link. I’m not familiar with phpMyAdmin. It looks easy but I know that I can destroy my website very easily with that tool…

I suppose “easy” is a relative term. phpMyAdmin gives you direct access to your database. I understand your concerns about destroying your website. With a bit of education and maybe some trial-and-error on a test site, it can be a very useful tool. However, if you make a mistake, and don’t know how to “undo” it, you could indeed take your site down. It’s only something I use when I can’t accomplish what I want to do any other way.
