I’ve looked through all 49 pages of this forum and have not found a solution to my issue.

I followed the instructions in the tutorial on creating a custom search form and a template override…I now have a search field for Categories, which is what I wanted. But when I test it, and I select one of the categories, instead of showing jobs by that category, the page refreshes and what I see in the Search Categories field is the first category, alphabetically, instead of the one I selected, and there are no jobs showing.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Rene

I’d also like all three search fields on one line rather than stacked on top of each other. That’s the way it was when I only had Keywords and Locations.

Sorry, another undesired behaviour is that you cannot clear the Categories field…clicking inside it just expands the drop-down list.

I had to disable the template override until these issues are fixed, so visiting my site won’t show you these results.

Well, this is odd, but after sleeping on it, when I went back to work on our site today, I now see a “Category” search field on the Jobs page, and it appears to be working. It also has an “x” on the far right, which clears the field. I did not make any further changes since posting this topic, so I don’t know what caused the behaviour to change. That would be nice to know, but I will accept success! The Category field is full-width, positioned below the Keywords and Location fields, which are side-by-side. I can live with that layout.

Sorry, but you can mark this one resolved.

    Hey Rene ( @reneyoung ) !

I’m happy to hear the problem is resolved for you. It’s possible that some code got cached in your browser and you were seeing false positives. Whatever caused it, it’s good that it’s working now ??

    Hi,

Is it possible to put all of them in one row, Keyword, location and categories under [jobs] short code with the search button and the code given in https://wpjobmanager.com/document/tutorial-creating-custom-job-search-form/ does not show categories. Please help. Thanks.
