Search by Postal Code: Address could not be found
-
When using store locator, and entering simple postcodes, some are found and displayed, others receive a popup error. Straight forward postcodes (and popular ones) often return a dialogue box error saying: “This address could not be found. WP Google Maps uses a third party service (e.g. Goole) to convert addresses to geographic coordinates …” and on it goes. Not only is this an ugly error for the user and for us, it doesn’t seem to be correct, as there seems to be some inconsistent results when searching for postcodes. Further to this, no configuration seems available to focus on postcodes as opposed to addresses, which to be fair is a feature request, but seems to be an important one. User testing for us shows that 90% of people go straight in and type a postcode to find their nearest store. Additionally, back to errors, after receiving this dialogue box error, entering any locations/addresses sometimes then doesn’t reset/appear the map. If fixes can’t be found, these two things make the plugin pretty much unusable from our end, thank you.
May be unrelated, but testing the field: Maps > Store Locator > Not Found Message: “our msg”, seems to have no effect which adds to a little bit of confusion. But this is more of a comment than a bug, I think. The UI and layout I find pretty confusing and unitunitive and mostly has to be understood by testing and refreshing over and over again. Long time spent testing different configurations, with mixed and confusing results. Not sure that it needs to be that way with better categorisation of your layout fields (e.g. 3 advanced tabs in different spots?). Sorry, just some feedback.
