As outlined in the pinned post here about Barcode support:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/pos-barcode-support/#post-11680624The SKU field is a shared field with the Barcode for the POS.
On the browser supported version of the POS, click the search icon next to the search bar. You can quickly toggle between searching by text or SKU/Barcode number in the search field.
On the Android app for the POS, you can use the same method as the browser version toggling between searching by Text or SKU/Barcode. You can also use the build in camera as a SKU/Barcode reader, click the barcode icon to the left side of the search bar. On click, the camera is launched to perform a barcode scan.
We understand some companies use a unique SKU number and unique Barcode number for a product. In a future release, we will provide a unique field for the Barcode number separate from the SKU number.
How does it become a shared field. What format does it take.
MyNumber, Barcode ??
or howLet us clarify.
The Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce can be found under the Inventory option field: SKU
The number placed in the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce, these numbers are the numbers used by the POS under the Barcode search. The numbers can be a SKU number or a Barcode number.
If you place a SKU number in the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce, you can search the SKU numbers by selecting the Barcode search function. Type in the SKU number.
For example, you have a product Sunglasses with SKU of woo-sunglasses-1. Switch the search function to Barcode search on the POS, type in the SKU: woo-sunglasses-1. The Product result of Sunglasses will display.
Or if you place a Barcode number in the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce, you can search the Barcode numbers by selecting the Barcode search function. Type in the Barcode number manually or use a Barcode Scanner.
For example, you have a product Shirts with a UPC-A barcode 01234567895, place the Barcode number in the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce. Switch the search function to Barcode search on the POS, type in the Barcode number or use a barcode scanner inputting the text 01234567895. The Product result of Shirts will display.
or
Another example with different barcode type, you have a product Shoes with a Code 128 barcode ABxy12$, place the Barcode number in the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce. Switch the search function to Barcode search on the POS, type in the Barcode number or use a barcode scanner inputting the text ABxy12$. The Product result of Shirts will display.
Important: For the POS, since the SKU and Barcode share the same Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce, you can select only one type to use for the POS Barcode search functionality. As a result, if you want to use a Barcode on a product for the POS, you will need to use the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce. Or if you want to use a SKU number on the product for the POS, you will need to use the Product Details SKU field in WooCommerce and select Barcode search functionality. Our current version of the POS doesn’t support both a SKU and Barcode for a product.
Wow great and thanks for responding.
Because of your response times I will give this all a try.Just one more question for now..
If I have an sku of Shirts Wc1234
will the search work if I just put Wc1234 or does it have to be the full SKU??Note..
I just checked this and there is “Nothing Found” for anything in SKU ( Search by Barcode)

Opps now he has gone…??
Thanks for the ping. We didn’t notice you had a follow-up issue.
For your specific question about search functionality, both the Text and SKU/Barcode searching functionality will update results as you enter each character, which you noticed. Using as an example, the default WooCommerce SKU number provided for Sunglasses, SKU number: woo-sunglasses, if you type woo, su, sses or -s as a sample of the partial SKU number, those will return the results of Sunglasses.
On the sample SKU you provided Shirts Wc1234, you are correct this is not returning the partial search results under the SKU/Barcode search. We’ve added this issue to our bug tracker to investigate further, as we commented earlier, we are developing a feature to support both the SKU and Barcode number in separate fields for products. As a result, we will probably defer this bug fix to our new feature supporting both for partial search results in an upcoming release.
Ok thanks.
Well since you have bugs and are not going to fix in the near future. I will have to find another product to do the same job.Unfortunately I wont be buying your product
Updating this forum post to feature visitors looking for SKU searching information.
On our latest version released 1.2.1, we now fully support SKU search functionality in the default search bar, including the sample SKU discussed on the post: Shirts Wc1234
For example, now update the Product SKU field under the inventory section with the SKU sample of Shirts Wc1234. The POS will provide search results for the products matching the SKU number as you type each character and also display the result on the full SKU name of Shirts Wc1234
as it has now been over 2 months since I last sent a msg, I have now found a far better POS system that does everything.
Also has pretty much instant support and any changes requested and put in place within days. -
