    Hello there,

It seems like the search functionality doesn’t find the accordion titles? If you try to search for a city, you’ll notice that the Resources page doesn’t show up in the Search results.

I’ve also went ahead and tried it with Relevanssi installed and it still can’t find the titles. That plugin author wondered if perhaps the accordion titles are stored as custom fields, but I tried to index those and it still didn’t work.

Any ideas on how I can get the titles to show up on searches?

Thanks so much for the help!

We just did a test and WordPress has no problem finding a search term if it’s used as a title. For example, search for the term ‘grapple’ at SpaceDonkey:
    https://spacedonkey.de/?s=grapple

If your resource page is not showing up, you need to check how your search plugin is configured. It’s not an issue related to the default WordPress behaviour, or or plugin.

Update 1: So we see on your page the results are being found so it is being indexed, just not being displayed as highlighted in the search results. For example, in the example you posted, the search term is being found on your archive page, but the results are collapsed behind the year archives. Is this your issue? The highlighting of the search term if it’s the title (or target for that matter) of an expand element?

Update 2: Now we see what you are talking about with the titles not being indexed on the Resources page. Quick question: How are these expands being inserted on that page? Are they in some kind of footer or special content area? The page seems to be using the:

as the actual page content. Where are the expand elements being inserted? Are you using some kind of ‘content block’ plugin?

    Hello,

thanks for the prompt response! It isn’t the search plugin configuration, as I’ve tried it with and without.

I’ve uninstalled all other plugins to test for conflicts, I think it actually has to do with the fact that I’m using Content Blocks – essentially the accordions are being called into the page and not living directly on the page. It seems that extra step/separation is rendering the contents to not be found. I will work with that plugin author and see if they have any ideas.

    Thanks for the help!

actually has to do with the fact that I’m using Content Blocks

Yes, that would do it, as the content is actually being stored separately from the page. Not only would the search have to know where to look for it’s storage place… it would also have to know where the specific content blocks are being displayed.

Hopefully we could help get you pointed in the right direction!
We’ll mark this issue as resolved, but if you work out a solution, please post back.
