    Hi,

I have been searching for a while and can’t seem to find a solution to my problem.

I am using Elementor pro to display my downloads on an archive page with the [downloads] shortcode. I would like to add a search bar to the header which will display only downloads as search results. When I search for something, it takes me to the archive page
but it does not affect the downloads that are displayed. It shows all of my downloads even the ones which do not much the search.

How do I make the [downloads] react to the search?

Also, I have Search & Filter pro which works fine. If its possible, id like to be able to filter the search results too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hey @polychimp

What you are looking for would require custom code or the integration with another plugin that can work like that directly on the page.

Try reaching out to the FacetWP developers to see if their plugin would work for your scenario.

    Thanks @misulicus

I will check out FacetWP but do you know how you would normally set it up so that it is possible to search a site for downloads? Or is this not a native feature of EDD?
I have seen another website which uses EDD with a standard WordPress search bar in the header.

It is possible to just add the EDD custom post type to the main WordPress search query. There is an example like that here https://www.dhirenpatel.me/cpt-wordpress-search-result/

The EDD post type is “download” so from that example replace “custom_post_type” with “download”.

    Thanks,
I think I can achieve what I want with this.
