Hi, I have an event named “Peter’s Cat”, it wouldn’t show up by using this plugin’s text search from the search form.

    I have tried
    “Peter’s Cat” – No result
    “Peters” – No result
    “Peter” – Found
    “Cat” Found

Is it because of the punctuation? Anybody experience the same problem with the text search? Is this a bug?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    John

  • Hi John,

It may have something to do with the punctuation. What version of Events Manager are you using?

    Hi Calmin,

    Thanks for reply.

    Tested on version 5.5.3.1.

For input strings eg “Peter’s Dog”
Seems like it return back to text field as “Peter\’s Dog” with no result. (Added the “\”?)

    Cheers,
    John

This could be a theme issue. If you test with the default theme do you have the same problem?

    Tested on

    1) a brand new installed latest WP with no other plugin, theme 2014
    2) a latest WP with custom theme I build which basically with strip down to bare-bone codes

    Both failed unfortunately.

I wonder if it is also work on https://demo.wp-events-plugin.com if you have this event title scenario. I am sure it is the ‘ or ” that cause problem, but it is a big concern for my client sadly.

Other thing I notice is if I click search again from “Peter\’s”
    It return “Peter\\\’s” -> Click -> “Peter\\\\\\\’s”

    Cheers,
    John

I’m seeing the same issue with backslashes but am I getting search results. Can you post a link to your site?

    Thread Starter johnwai

    (@johnwai)

    Sure.

Try this url for event listing

Seems like other punctuation such as “#,-,!” also work but not “‘” for me.

It is on latest wp 4.0, no other plugins, theme 2014 no modify.

Thanks for looking into it. Much appreciated.

    Cheers,
    John

That’s odd because I’m using the same theme but getting results. What version of the theme are you using?

It was on 1.1, upgraded to 1.2. Makes no difference I am afraid.

Can you show me a demo that work if possible?

    Cheers,
    John

when you say latest update you mean Version 5.5.4 ?

Yes, that’s the new version just out.
