Search Function Algorithm

  • Hello,

    I am new to WordPress and I would like to learn about the power, logic and extensibility of its search system. I have seen in some posts and webs that there are plugins around to enable to search all the content of the webs, even addresses… but I haven’t seen one where it is explain the algorithm used…

    I have also performed some searches in WordPress powered websites and I have only seen that the results are ordered by date… not relevancy… and I would like to know if this can be done with it.

  • As a beginner, I too would be interested as well to know what happens between submitting the search content and the results being displayed. Where is the function (code) and how might it be modified? I’m still stumbling around trying to find where to alter the default response when a search is unsuccessful: “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria, please try and search again.”
