Hi @kevinbrands,
Thanks for reaching out about the search function not working for “6 stipjes” within your patterns. You’re right, there’s a specific setting affecting the searchability of content in WordPress.
The issue lies in using Synced Patterns for your document sections. Unfortunately, WordPress’ default search functionality doesn’t currently support searching within content stored as synced patterns.
Here’s why:
- When you use a synced pattern on a doc page, it gets added to the backend as a code block. This format isn’t readily searchable by the standard search bar.
- BetterDocs also doesn’t support searching within synced patterns.
There are two ways to ensure your search function picks up content within patterns:
Use “p” Block or Non-Synced Patterns:
- Instead of synced patterns, you can create regular patterns using the “p” block (paragraph block) within the Gutenberg editor. This allows your content to be directly included in the page, making it searchable.
- Alternatively, you can create non-synced patterns. These maintain their own formatting but are treated as part of the page content for search purposes.
For a clearer picture, I’ve included resources that demonstrate how synced and non-synced patterns affect search indexing:
