Currently we are evaluating the cleantalk antispam plugin. I want to know whether email registration and IP will be checked from all the blacklists databases of spammers? Is there any limitation to which for this check and if I have anti-spam plugin installed in my website, do I need to subscribed to blacklist database as well? What is difference between email and IP check done from anti-spam and email_check() API?

    Hello, @manojmohandev.

I want to know whether email registration and IP will be checked from all the blacklists databases of spammers?

Yes, they are being checked for spam.

Is there any limitation to which for this check and if I have anti-spam plugin installed in my website, do I need to subscribed to blacklist database as well?

    No, there are no limitations.
No, you don’t need to subscribe to the Blacklist Database separately. The plugin connects to the CleanTalk Cloud automatically by itself. Please, keep in mind that the plugin is free, however the CleanTalk Service is not.

What is difference between email and IP check done from anti-spam and email_check() API?

email_check() API should be used exclusively for checking of email addresses existence.
While IP check is being done automatically by the CleanTalk plugin.

    Did it help?

    Hi @serge00,

    Thanks for quick response.

I know anti-spam service is not free. My only concern is whether the email and IP check done by cleantalk anti-spam service will be checked with all the blacklist databases or not.

Also, correct me if I am wrong. The difference between Blacklist database service by cleantalk and anti-spam service is spam check can be done on-premise in case of blacklist database service while anti-spam service check for spammers via cloud service.

Yes, the CleanTalk plugin checks any IPs and email addresses on the fly. It connects to the CleanTalk Cloud and then the servers make a decision whether a website visitor is a spammer or not.

Yes, you are correct. If you plan to use our APIs, please check these guides:

    Thank you for the information.

I just encountered an issue while testing some spam email ids. I was trying to sign-up using some of the spam email ids & I was able to sign-up successfully. But when I clicked on ‘Find Spam Users’ option within the plugin, this user was marked as spam. When I checked the email id in https://cleantalk.org/blacklists, I found that the email has been reported as spam but not listed in either Anti-Spam protection or WordPress Security Firewall list. Does this mean, if a mail id is reported as spam (either by your service or by user) it need not be blacklisted? If that’s the case, how can we restrict those users from signing-up to our site using those spam mail ids?
