Search is not returning all posts/products

We have thousands of books and comics on our site, many of them with author names in custom fields. However, searching using this plugin only seems to return some of the results. For example “Mark Waid” only returns 5 products but there are at least 4 or 5 others that have that name in the same custom field including this one. How can we fix this?
