• Hi,
After doing an automatic upgrade from WP 3.0.2 to 3.1.3 the search function isn’t working properly. I disabled plugins while upgrading etc.

https://thebeautifulhousecompany.com/search/ displays with an example search string of “Swimming Pool” (with quotes). With WP 3.0.2, this displayed all 8 properties with swimming pools. With WP 3.1.3, no properties are returned. I use quotes for exact matching otherwise properties with pool tables are returned. One word searches are fine. The problem only occurs when using double quotes.

If I go into the wp dashboard and click on posts, then enter “Swimming Pool” (with the quotes”) in the ‘search posts box’ top right of the screen. I get the correct results back – the 8 properties with swimming pools.

(I have a version of the website on my desktop running under xampp/apache/MySQL. When I updated that from 3.0.2 to 3.1.3, the search with double quotes works fine.)

I deactivated all the plugins but still fails to work.

I tried the Twenty Eleven theme with the wordpress search widget on my live site and it works with double quotes.

So, does this prove the problem is in my search.php / page-search.php /searchform.php (which calls the standard wordpress search function) even though they work in my localhost site?

I’m really confused now so any help would be very welcome!

    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi,

I can’t work out what’s gone wrong here, so will have to go back to WP 3.0.2.

Many thanks to all the people who offered me assistance on this.

    Cheers
    Chris

Having the same problem since the upgrade – our site won’t respond to any tag searches either from the search engine or from within the site. Please advise!

    I’m using 3.2.1

I went back to 3.0.2 and did incremental upgrades.

At 3.0.6 the search works properly, but when I upgraded to 3.1, that’s when the problem described above starts happening.

The wordpress database changed from 15477 (3.0.6) to 17056 (3.1).

Should I report this as an error here?

Please do report it. It’s a really frustrating error, as many of my Google links are based on tag references and they are not working. Costing lots of clicks!

    thanks
