My search function does not work properly anymore. I am not sure when it stopped but I think it was with the most recent update.

I can type into the search field and hit enter. It send me to the search results page but shows all records.

Here is my page where you can see it happen: www(.)christianquotes(.)info/search-for-a-quote/

Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Thanks

Oh yes, that is because I have been using this on my test site and not the live one. I went ahead and changed it on my live site as well.

The problem does not appear to be with the search page (www(.)christianquotes(.)info/search-for-a-quote/) though. If you type something in that form it works. I guess the problem is if you are using the search function in the header. So for example, if you go to the homepage and click on the “find a quote” button on the top right of the header and you search in there (The left search bar is the one for this plugin) it acts as if it is searching and sends you to the search page, but it lists all the entries rather than the searched term entries.

OK, well that is a similar issue. For any remote search form, you need to set the target page and the target instance. Those two must be correct for it to work. If you look at the HTML for your list where the results are shown, you’ll see an instance number in the class of the outer wrapper…something like “pdb-instance-2” that “2” is your instance number, and any remote search shortcodes you are using must have that number in the target instance value.

Perfect! Thank you so much. It is working perfectly now.

And it looks like I do not have to go in and change all the different static pages I have either. Those search forms are back to working now.

Thanks for the great plugin and support

You’re welcome. I changed the list shortcode so it targets itself by default if there are other PDB shortcodes on the page.
