• When I search for something on my website, the search box displays the correct items but when I hit the “Enter” key, the results are not correct. I have added the shortcode to the results page but that doesn’t change anything. I would appreciate your help in resolving this issue. Thanks!

    Hi!

Make sure to have the search override option enabled, that should solve the issue ??

Thank you Ernest for responding to me.

I already have that option enabled on my website but still doesn’t work.

Okay! That usually means one of three things:

    • In case you have another search plugin active, they could conflict and override each other, then results from the other are populated to the loop. Make sure no other search plugins are active.
    • There is a custom code snippet overriding the search results. If you have any customization for the query, loops, then that could cause the issue as well. Make sure to deactivate those custom code snippets.
    • The results template file is customized and contains a custom query for the search results. In this case the only thing is to revert back to the original theme file so that the WordPress core search query is used.

    All the best,
    Ernest

    Thanks for the detailed response.

    • In the case of another search plugin, I don’t have another one that is active. Just the Ajax Search Lite.
    • Could you guide me on how I can implement your solution? This is my first time using WordPress. Thanks!

Okay, in that case it’s very likely something custom coded directly – and most likely within the theme.

Try switching the theme to the default one (Twenty Twenty Four) and test to see if the results override – they should. If that works, then there is very likely a custom coded search query within your currently active theme, that may not be possible to override.

Thanks again for helping me out with this.

Switching themes will modify some of the features and elements on the website. When I switch back, some of the elements gets broken. Is there another way to test out your suggestion. Thanks!

Well, there is one more thing you can try, this option: https://i.imgur.com/LxFNYg5.png

If that does nothing, well I’m afraid there is no other way.

I already tried that before reaching out. Doesn’t work. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Is the theme free to use? If so, let me know and I will try it on my end to see what’s wrong.

Yes, it is a free theme. Thank you!

    Thank you!

Sorry for the late response, I have been a bit busy lately. So I have installed the theme, however it immediately showed a critical error. I was able to fix that, but even if no plugins are active there is no results page whatsoever – it shows nothing at all. I tried different environments without luck, so I don’t know what’s wrong.
