Search outputting deprecated wp_specialchars

Forgive me, but I don’t use the search.php and searchform.php that often, but have implemented it and I am a getting notice for wp_specialchars is deprecated. I cannot seem to find wp_specialchars to replace it with esc_html(). Is this a core issue waiting to be updated or am I missing it?
