Search page result not showing Fullwidth

Despite selecting the blog style as full width (no sidebars), the search results page is rendering in classic view. I’ve noted the page editor allows for a the full width template to be used when pages are created. Since the search results page is one of the few and possibly only pages that is generated wholly by the theme itself, it appears some code needs to check for this and adjust internally. I’d be happy to do this in my child theme if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance!
