• Hi,

When I use the Relevanssi search bar in the translated version (the Dutch version) of my website, I get a preview in English. I would like to have the preview in Dutch.

For example –> searching for spinazie (spinach in English)

    Zoek resultaten voor spinazie:

    Quinoa
Quinoa What is quinoa? Our quinoa seeds come from the quinoa plant (Chenopodium quinoa Willd ); a flowering plant in the amaranth family (which includes spinach and beetroot). Quinoa…

I would like to know how I can change this. I’m using TranslatePress for the translation.

    Thanks in advance!

    Kind regards,
    Linda

Relevanssi doesn’t work very well with TranslatePress. TranslatePress stores the original text in the post content and the translations in a custom database table which Relevanssi doesn’t see. Thus Relevanssi can’t use the translated text for excerpts either.

There are solutions that can be used, but they require using filter hooks. How comfortable are you with PHP programming?

    Thank you for your answer.

I have a friend who has a lot of knowledge about programming, so she might be able to help me with PHP programming. What would be the solution using filter hooks?

Do you also have another option for translating my website (I am using Elementor), which works well with Relevanssi?

    Thanks in advance!

Polylang is the best translation plugin and works well with Relevanssi.

I’ve thought about supporting TranslatePress directly in Relevanssi, but I haven’t yet figured out a way to make it work well, ie. so that only results in current language could be shown. It may be it’s not possible within reasonable limits.

It’s possible to do a solution where search always covers all languages, but I’m not sure how helpful that is. I can’t help you with the details, either, because I don’t know exactly how things are done in TranslatePress.
