• Hi,

Is there is any plan to implement a Gutenberg “Search & Replace” in “text only” feature?

Personally I really need this feature, because I use post and page templates with placeholders, which I than replace with the correct text. Also I often revisit older Articles and have to search & replace wordings.

I know, that I can do some “dirty” tricks to do the Search & Replace manually on a PC (copy HTML/Gutenberg markup to text editor and replace the text there), but this is problematic, because it could break the HTML/Gutenberg markup, …. and it’s 100% not working on mobile.

In the classic editor, it was easy to add the Search & Replace feature via “TinyMCE Advanced” plugin.

    Idea:
    – Search & Replace in Gutenberg (Text only)
    – WP-CLI support for Gutenberg “Text only” Search & Replace

Maybe there is already a plugin for this? Any hint is welcome.

  • This is my #1 required feature. I actually have to revert back to TinyMCE to do it now.

Please, please! This needs to be added directly to the Block Editor!

I just cannot imagine a modern text writing tool without search and replace functionality. I’d include some level of regex, but the lack of even a basic functionality means I’m going to do my editing outside WordPress. What a pain. Gutenberg has been out long enough that it should have basic editing. Anyway please consider this.

Thanks for posting and absolutely agreed. Clients frequently change product names, company names, slogans, trademarks/copyright symbols and other factors that currently have to be searched/replaced manually. This is required functionality for a text writing system.
