I’m using an archive template to display categories and search results.
This template works great for categories (results are language specific, and the correct header and footer appear). However, the same exact template does not work well for search results, which are always displayed on the default language.
Any ideas on how this could be resolved?

    more info:
    – the templates for the 2 languages are connected (you can see that they are the translation of one another)
    – The conditions for both templates are set to be displayed on all search results (which is probably why the main language takes over the search results)

    Thanks for your feedback!
Only set the condition in the Elementor template for your main language.
For the translated version of the template just save without any conditions please.
    Does it work then?

    thanks for your quick response!
It doesn’t work unfortunately. I tried both with and without setting the conditions for the secondary language, but the results are the same: categories are language specific while search results always go to the default language.

i tried removing my archive templates completely and the results are the same:categories work while search results are for the default language only.

Which search input do you use?
    – Elementor Widget from E Pro?
    – Elementor Widget from third-party?
    – (old) WordPress Search Widget placed in Elementor?
    – or search feature of the theme? (and which theme are you using?)

This info will help us better understand how your search query is processed.

Also be aware of this general info:
Currently the plugin does not explicitely tweak any search functionality. (And we also did not put this as a feature anywhere, please keep this in mind.)

We are currently researching what issues users have with languages in general with Elementor & Polylang and where areas are that we might have a chance to tweak from the perspective of a third-party plugin.

Im using Elementor pro widget. it appears on my header which is language specific. I can see that the search widget is displayed for the correct language (but also tried to replace it, so each language has its own search widget – but it didn’t work).
I understand the plugin does not change search behavior at the moment, I still hope there’s a solution you can help with.
    Thanks!

    Hello

I have literally a few minutes ago created search archive for my production site. So, I searched in default language, blue…. All blue items come up.. Changed to secondary language, search blue. No results. (Truth be told – 1 result did come up but that was because I had not translated that specific term). I then changed to my secondary language. Then in my secondary language I searched for azul (blue in Portuguese) and then the results displayed. The results excluded products in another language.

My process was simple. Created search archive template in primary language. Published. Created translation of above template in alternative language. No display condition’s. I did not alter the search widget in anyway. Elementor standard search widget.

    Worked like a charm.

Is there a link to your website where we can have a look at the exact behaviour?

i tried all kinds of variations as @p4fbradjohnson and @daveshine suggested, but with no luck. I then replaced my Elementor search widget on the secondary-language header with the WP search widget and realized it works well. This workaround is good enough for me.
Thank you guys for trying to help, i appreciate it.
