Search results duplicated if in more than one category (2.1)

  • With WP 2.1 a search will now repeat a post found through a search as many times as it has categories.

    So, for example, if I have a post tagged under ‘technology’, ‘science’ and ‘sport’, any search where that is a result will display the post three times.

    This didn’t happen with previous versions. Any idea about a hack to only ever display a search result once? Thanks.

  • Hmm, i have the same problem. It′s just like you say. If the post have many categories, it will repat on the search page….
    Any suggestions….

    What plugins are you using? There is a compatibility problem between WP 2.1 and certain plugins that will result in duplicate posts.

    oki, i found out that the problem was that i’m using the pluggin Event Calendar ( https://wpcal.firetree.net/ ). When i deactivated this pluggin, the search page works again.

    Thanks for the solution yerkin. EventCalendar wasn’t actually working since I upgraded anyway, so I’m dumping it. I’ve linked in to my Last.fm events as an adequate replacement.

    I’ve no problem with Event Calendar working with 2.1 and made the following change in eventcalendar3.php to get rid of the problem

    in function ‘ec3_filter_posts_where’ add the following to the first if statement

    || $wp_query->is_search

    I’m experiencing the same problem but its with the Category Visibility – RH Rv plugin. Does anyone have any experience with this one? I’m looking into a fix. If i figure it out I’ll post it.

    There’s a beta 2.1 version of the category visibility plugin available and it seems to work ok so far!
