    Hello,

I am using the search function as a widget, which is outputting to a separate search results page. It works fine the first time but if, after performing one search, you try to do another search (via the widget), it does not yield results and instead just displays the full list of participants.

You can see what I’m talking about here:

    https://www.renocountyveterans.com/submit-a-veterans-name/

For testing purposes, (on the widget) select ‘Last Name’ and put in “Albert”. You will see it will take you to a /search-results/ page and display 3 results.

Now stay on that page and put the last name Avery into the search. You will see the page will update but will show the full list of 471 names, 50 results per page. However, if you go to any other page and use the widget again, it will work.

Is there any way to clear the page? Pressing “Clear” on the widget does not resolve the problem.

    Thank you!

    Angela

You need to add the “target_instance” attribute to the search shortcode so that when the search is submitted it updates the list. The list on your search results page is instance 1 (you can see this in the HTML in the wrapper div) so try this in your widget:

    [pdb_search target_instance=1]

Thank you so much! I had tried instance 2, not fully understanding how that part worked. Adding the instance 1 though did the trick! I appreciate your fast response!! ??

    Marking resolved. Thank you!
