    Hello Support:

Is it possible to use Relevanssi to search rss feed content? How would one do that?

I have a page that displays RSS feed items: headlines and excepts from hundreds of RSS feeds. Feed items are collected from a feed aggregator plugin, and stored in the WP database. The feed items are maintained on the site for 7 days. There might be 1000-2000 feed items collected and searchable during a week.

Presently users can scroll through page after page of RSS feed items. I would like to give them the option to keyword search these feed items (headlines and excerpts). And these feed items only (it should not search blog posts, forum postings, or product listings.

Is this possible with Relevanssi? How would one do this?

    Thank you!

It’s possible, if you can store the feed items as a custom post type. If you do the data storage that way, then it’s easy to have Relevanssi search that post type, and only that post type.

Otherwise it’s not possible, as Relevanssi infrastructure is built on searching WordPress posts.

Thank you Mikko. Is it possible to use Relevanssi Light for the same purpose?

No, it’s even stricter with this, as it only works with what’s in your wp_posts database table, Relevanssi Premium offers some leeway with taxonomy terms and user profiles.

    Thank you Mikko.

I’m trying to learn more about the storage of the RSS feed items.
