Search-symbol disappeared

    Today I noticed, that the magnifier symbol at the bottom on the left side on the page disappeared. Is it a problem especially on my page or does the theme need a bug fix? If it is a problem of my page only, does somebody have a suggestion?

    When I use Firefox Version 78.0.2esr (64-Bit), it disappeared only on the start page. When changing the page the symbol is loaded. Using Konqueror Version 5.0.97 it disappeared on all pages.

    Hi @meinwegausdersexsucht,

    It looks like the font-awesome.css file (which loads the icon font used for icons in McLuhan) isn’t loading on your site for some reason. It might be an issue with your caching plugin, which seems to combine the CSS files in the theme but leaves out the Font Awesome CSS file. Try disabling it and see it that fixes the issue.

    Hi Anders,

    thank you for your suggestion. I have asked for help in the support forum of my caching plugin W3 Total Cache (https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/search-symbol-disappeared-2/).

    But even after I deactivate the plugin completely the problem persists so the plugin support guessed that the issue is not related to the plugin.

    Are you able to helping me along?

    I found the reason. It has nothing to do with the McLuhan theme.

    The issue was caused by the plugin “OMGF – Optimize My Google Fonts”. After I deactivated the “Auto Remove” function (“Remove any requests to externally hosted Google Fonts-stylesheets from your WordPress-blog. If it doesn’t work, your theme and/or plugin(s) are using unconventional methods or Web Font Loader to load Google Fonts.”) the magnifier symbol is loaded again.
